Think of our Troops at holiday time!

Please check out this website:

I had a craving for chocolate chip cookies and was thinking about baking up a batch... I don't know why, but I started thinking about our troops overseas. I think God must have put this thought in my heart...I can't imagine the things they could be missing from home. So, I found this website where you can get names and addresses of military personnel who would like care packages. If you click on the "where to send" link, it takes you to a page with their names and messages from the troops, asking for certain things. I have to warn you, this site is addicting, reading all the messages. It is hard to choose just one person to send things to. They are so grateful for the smallest things. Things like deodorant, kool-aid, and magazines. It might just make you cry reading the messages from our heroes.
There are directions on the website on "how to send" the packages. Useful tips like, don't mix food with hygiene items, and how to make sure your package will stay in tact.
If you are going to send a package, please send a letter along with it. Letters are THE MOST requested thing by these Soldiers.
Right now is the perfect time to put together a care package. It may just get there in time for the holidays. Even if it doesn't, who wouldn't want to ring in the New Year with goodies?
*Unfortunately you cannot send home baked/made food for safety reasons! But, there are plenty of other sweets and candy that they would love to receive. And some store bought brands are almost as good! Right now Easy Mac is on sale at Stater Bros. for 2.99 and buy one get one free! This is a much requested item. You can also buy Hot Cocoa mix there for .99! It's going to be a cold winter in Iraq so I'm sure they would love that too!
Show them that they are not forgotten! God Bless our Troops!!!

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving!

We sure did! Remember to count your blessings! Each one of my friends is counted as a special blessing to me! I am especially thankful for my wonderful husband and my sweet baby boy. I am also thankful for my dad's health, and God's grace. I love Thanksgiving! I love spending time with family and just eating, eating and eating some more!
Isaiah had a great first Thanksgiving, spending time with his cousin Alyssa, eating turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and pumkin pie! Then the next day, we went and had gourmet Chinese! YUMMY! It is awesome to see how much he is loved by all of his family!

Dial A Human

Tired of automated phone menus when you are in need of customer service? Don't you hate waiting 10 minutes just to get through to a human voice? I was watching the news and came across this awesome website, giving you shortcuts on talking to a human faster! This site will be constantly updated, I'm hoping they update it to include the IRS!

This site will also be listed under our favorite websites page for future reference!

Two Boxes

I have in my hands two boxes,
Which God gave me to hold.
He said, "Put all your sorrows in the black box,
And all your joys in the gold."
I heeded His words, and in the two boxes,
Both my joys and sorrows I stored,
But though the gold became heavier each day,
The black was as light as before.
With curiosity, I opened the black,
I wanted to find out why,
And I saw, in the base of the box, a hole,
Which my sorrows had fallen out by.
I showed the hole to God, and mused,
"I wonder where my sorrows could be!"
He smiled a gentle smile and said,
"My child, they're all here with me..."
I asked God, why He gave me the boxes,
Why the gold and the black with the hole?
"My child, the gold is for you to count your blessings,
The black is for you to let go."
Wishing you a day of forgotten sorrows and remembered blessings. God bless you all!
